About Me

Hi, my name is Katie!  I am a 30 something-year-old Michigan native with an eye for fashion and a passion for saving money.  I am the wife of an airline pilot and the mom to my 2 little ones, Jack and Anna.  I have a bachelor's degree in Child Development and I spent 10 years working in early childhood education.  I now consider myself retired from the field as I stay home with my family and pursue new adventures.

I started Thrifty Wife, Happy Life in the fall of 2013 as a way for me to share my creativity with my affordable wardrobe, mostly sharing my daily work outfits. Saving money and living a debt-free lifestyle has always been very important to my husband and me.  Even though I love to shop, I try to always stick to a very tight budget.  You will often find that most of my wardrobe comes from thrift stores and second-hand shops or comes from affordable retailers like Old Navy, Target, and H&M, just to name a few.  I love to be creative with my wardrobe and mix it up with new and old purchases.  I believe that you don't need to spend a lot of money on your wardrobe to be stylish on the outside and feel great on the inside.

As my blog has grown and evolved over the years, I have become very passionate about helping moms rediscover their style.  As a mother of two young children, I know how hard it can be to put yourself together while taking care of your little ones and balancing everything else in life.  I want to help inspire other moms to feel stylish and put together effortless, practical outfits on a budget.  I want you to come to my blog and feel like I'm your friend just chatting about fashion and other topics that you would chat with your girlfriends about over a cup of coffee.

Along with bargain shopping, some other things I enjoy are spending time with my family and friends, a hot summer day at the beach, early mornings to myself with a cup of coffee, and a good craft beer.  This blog is always evolving as my life changes, but my message is always the same.  I want people to know that you don't have to spend a lot of money to live a happy fulfilling life.  Finding contentment in what you have is the key to happiness!
