Birth Story

Warning: this post is pretty long, but I tried to record everything from my birth story.  I don’t want to forget anything.  I not only want to share my story with all of you but I also want to have it as a memory for myself to look back on.

Postpartum Essentials for Mom

Postpartum Essentials for Moms

If I learned one thing from my last pregnancy, it's that babies will come when they are ready and they don't care if you are ready or not.  Jack was born 10 days early, which shouldn't have been a big deal, but I was a first-time mom and I thought for sure my baby would be late.  I had nothing prepared for postpartum.  Luckily I had a lot of help.  This time around it's just going to be me and Kevin at home with the baby for the first week or so.  I know we will be fine, but I also know that he's not going to be wanting to run out to the store every day to buy me things like pads and granny panties.  That's why this time around I'm trying to stock up on all my postpartum essentials ahead of time.

Retirement Planning 101

Retirement Planning 101

I'm often asked questions about how Kevin and I have been successful at saving money and planning for our retirement.  I never know exactly how to explain it to people.  I have a hard time explaining all the technical terms.  That's why I asked Kevin to write a special post for me about all the basic things you need to know about retirement planning.  He's explaining what accounts you should have, how much you should save, and where to invest.

My Thoughts as I Prepare to Become a Mom of 2

Preparing to become a mom of 2

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to get married and become a mom.  I never questioned that.  I always wanted to have two kids, a boy, and a girl.  I guess you can say that I'm getting everything I always wanted.  As my due date approaches and I get closer and closer to becoming a mom of 2 I'm having all kinds of emotions about it.  I'm so excited because I can't believe I'm going to have a baby in my arms soon, but I'm also nervous and scared about adding on another child to our family.

35 Week Baby Bump Update

35 Week Baby Bump Update
Unless I get an unexpected boost of energy between now and the time the baby is born, this is probably going to be my last baby bump update post.  It's hard to believe, but super exciting at the same time. Even though it seems like I still have some time before this baby arrives, I know that 4 weeks are going to fly by.  I still have so many things to do and absolutely no motivation to get it all done.  Even though this pregnancy has been much different than I ever could have expected, I'm still trying to make the most of it and soak it all in.  It's getting much harder though as the weeks go by.  I am just so excited to meet my little girl and I can't wait to hold her in my arms.
KeaBabies diaper backpack review
I guess you can say I've become quite the connoisseur of diaper bags over the last 4 years and the funny thing is I rarely used them when Jack was a baby.  I've tried out all sorts of bags, but I always ended up just throwing everything into one of my big purses.  The problem with that is it made it really hard for me to find everything I needed.  It also created a big mess in my purse with burp cloths, bottles, and all the other random things that ended up in there.
How to style a simple black fitted maternity dress
Here I am in the last trimester of my second pregnancy.  I'd like to say that I learned a little more about the basics of maternity style this time around.  I learned what I like and what I don't like when it comes to maternity clothes.  I will say that my last pregnancy was a little more fun to dress for.  I had fun finding new ways to dress my bump and be creative with my non-maternity clothes.  This pregnancy, I've tried to stick more to comfort over creativity.

Small shops for babies and kids

As I try to prepare for my baby girls arrival in June, I've been doing a lot of eyeing and buying.  What I'm finding is that I am leaning more towards small shops when it comes to buying baby gear this time around.  I love a good deal and I do buy most kid's clothes and baby gear from bigger retailers, but right now I feel that it's really important to shop small and support local small businesses.  Our economy has taken a huge hit with the coronavirus pandemic.  It's really affecting the small local business, so I'm trying to do my part to help them out.

Being quarantined at home was not the way I had expected to spend my third trimester.  I have been looking forward to spring my entire pregnancy because I knew once it warmed up I'd be able to wear dresses.  Dresses are really one of the most comfortable things to wear when you are pregnant.  After wearing leggings almost non-stop my entire pregnancy, I'm sick of them.  I'm ready to pull out all my favorite dresses, that I can still fit into of course.  Being stuck at home isn't going to stop me from dressing cute this spring.

Back when I found out I was pregnant in the fall, I never could have imagined that I would be pregnant during a global pandemic.  This baby was well planned out and I felt like the timing of the due date was perfect, but I can't tell you how many times in the last month or so I have asked myself why do I have to be pregnant now?
