Maternity outfits that you can wear before, during and after your pregnancy

I don't know why, but maternity fashion is always overwhelming for most pregnant women.  I think that we tell ourselves that we are supposed to dress in a different way because we are pregnant and our bodies are growing.  We tell ourselves that we need to buy "maternity clothes".  The truth is, when it comes to your maternity fashion, nothing needs to change.  You can wear the same outfits that you always wore before you were pregnant, and you can continue to wear those outfits long after your pregnancy.  All you need to do is invest in a few maternity pieces here and there (read more on what maternity clothes to buy HERE) to help fit over your growing belly, but overall, you should be able to get by with buying the bare minimum amount of maternity clothes.

Maternity jeans are an important purchase to make in the maternity department.

One thing that I really enjoyed about being pregnant was dressing my growing baby bump.  It was a fun challenge for me to come up with cute outfits that made me feel good about myself but also keep me comfortable.  I feel like it can be really confusing at the beginning and a little overwhelming when you think about a maternity wardrobe.  Some people might think that you need to buy all your clothes in the maternity department when you are pregnant, but that's not the case at all.  Obviously, every woman is built differently and everyone starts showing at different times, but I still believe that most women can get away with buying only a few basic maternity items in the maternity department.

2020 Beauty Products Review

Favorite beauty products of 2020

Just like I shared my favorite clothes purchases of 2020 (Read about that HERE), I wanted to round up and review some of my beauty purchases of the year.  I know that many people might think that 2020 wasn't the best year to be buying many beauty products since most of us spent the year at home, but for me, 2020 was all about beauty products, especially makeup.  Doing my makeup helped me get through the year.  It made me feel good about myself and helped give me some normalcy in my life during all the chaos of 2020.

Cozy, casual outfits

If 2020 taught me anything at all, it's that you can never have enough loungewear.  Between being a stay-at-home-mom, spending half the year pregnant, and then going through a global pandemic, my wardrobe has officially shifted to the casual side.  Leggings, joggers, and slippers are my new go-to daily clothes.  I do miss wearing jeans and getting ready to go somewhere every day, but I just don't feel the motivation to get out of my cozy clothes any time soon.  That doesn't mean that I'm not going to put together cute cozy outfits.  Just because you are wearing loungewear all day, doesn't mean you shouldn't still feel cute and put together.

At the end of each year, I love to do a round-up blog post sharing my favorite purchases from the year.  It's fun to look back on what I bought and evaluate my shopping.  I'm always trying to stay true to myself and this blog by keeping my shopping habit on a budget.  My goal is to never buy anything over $50 unless it's the occasional splurge.

Easy Winter Layering Outfits

in , , by Katie Margaret, December 21, 2020

When it comes to dressing for winter, it's all about layers.  You always need to be prepared for changing temperatures outside and inside.  I've never liked big bulky winter clothes, that's why if you peek into my closet you will see lots of lighter clothes that can easily be layered.

The key to keeping your layered outfits comfortable is to avoid over-layering.  You don't want your outfit to feel stiff and hard to move in.  No one wants to feel like the kid from A Christmas Story...hahaha. I like to stick with lightweight clothes.  Most of my sweaters aren't very thick and fit nicely under a jacket or over a button-down shirt.

Easy ways to wear a plaid scarf
Did you catch my latest reel style video over on Instagram?  If not, I shared a few ways to style my favorite plaid scarf. (Check out my reel HERE)  I bought this plaid scarf last December at a local second-hand store.  I've been looking for a plaid scarf like this for years.  I love that it has green and red, so it's great to wear around the holidays, but I also wear it throughout the winter with my coats. Sometimes it's tricky to figure out how to wear a scarf.  You would think it would be pretty easy, but it's not always.

Baby monthly picture idea

Baby Update

Anna turned 6 months yesterday!  I can't believe that we are at the halfway point of her first year.  The biggest thing I learned with my first baby is that you really need to enjoy the first year and soak it all in because it flies by.

Christmas Party Outfit Ideas

Christmas party outfit ideas #christmasoutfit
I have such mixed emotions about Christmas this year.  Part of me is so excited to celebrate with my little family.  It's Anna's first Christmas and Jack is super excited for Santa this year.  I'm trying to create new memories and traditions for our family and I'm really excited about it, but then there is also a part of me that is very sad about Christmas this year.  We usually spend the entire week of Christmas with our families and this year, because of the pandemic, we will be staying home.  I know we will FaceTime with everyone and make the best of the holiday the same way we have all year long, but it's just not the same.  There are no parties, no family get-togethers, no meetups with friends, and no events worth dressing up for this Christmas.  But that does not mean that I can't put together a Christmas party outfit idea post, right?  I still have a closet full of clothes just waiting to be worn.  Besides, you can always pin these outfit ideas to your Pinterest boards for next year.

If you would have asked me 10 years ago if I would ever wear "mom jeans" I would have laughed and said no way!  I always remember seeing the mom jeans SNL skit and laughing thinking how ridiculous my mom looked back in the '90s wearing high-waisted mom jeans.  Well, here I am at 36 wearing mom jeans and absolutely loving them.
